Questions to ask Business Central

Why did an entry post to that G/L account?

The short answer

In standard Business Central:

  1. Open General Ledger Entries for the account and find the entry.
  2. Use Find entries to see the document and every entry it posted.
  3. Check the entry’s posting groups against General Posting Setup, VAT Posting Setup and the customer, vendor, bank or inventory posting groups.

The account can come from any of several setup tables, so tracing it back takes patience.

The faster way

With Bee Solved, the AI Assistant for Business Central, you give the entry number, or the document and the account, and ask why it went there.

Why did G/L entry 41872 post to account 6110?

Why it went there
General Posting Setup DOMESTIC / RETAILNames 6110 as the sales account
Entry’s posting groupsDOMESTIC, RETAIL

It finds the posting setup records (general, VAT, customer, vendor, bank, inventory and currency) that name that account for the entry’s own posting groups, and any document lines that named the account directly. Each one is cited with a link, so you can see exactly which setting to change if it is wrong.

Bee Solved works in Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot. It signs in as the person asking, uses their Business Central permissions, and links every answer back to the records behind it.

Questions

Does it change the posting setup?

No. It only reads and explains. Any change to the setup stays in Business Central.

What do I need to give it?

The G/L entry number, or the document number together with the G/L account.

What if I can’t see part of the setup?

It works with your own Business Central permissions. Anything you are not allowed to read is listed as not shown, never guessed.
