Questions to ask Business Central
How do I see our foreign currency exposure in Business Central?
The short answer
In standard Business Central:
- Open Customer Ledger Entries and Vendor Ledger Entries, filter on open entries, and group them by Currency Code.
- Check Currencies for the latest exchange rates.
- At period end, run Adjust Exchange Rates to post the unrealised gains and losses.
Seeing the position between period ends means working it out yourself in a spreadsheet.
The faster way
With Bee Solved, the AI Assistant for Business Central, you ask where you stand in each currency.
What’s our foreign currency exposure today?
| EUR | Owed to us 84,000, we owe 31,500 |
| USD | We owe 46,200 |
| At today’s rates | Estimated loss of 1,180 |
For each currency it shows open receivables and payables in that currency and in your local currency, the unrealised gains and losses Business Central has already posted with Adjust Exchange Rates, and what today’s exchange rate does to them. The gain or loss at today’s rate is always an estimate, and is labelled so. Business Central’s own figure is the adjustments it has posted.
Bee Solved works in Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot. It signs in as the person asking, uses their Business Central permissions, and links every answer back to the records behind it.
