Questions to ask Business Central
There is nothing to post in Business Central: what it means and how to fix it
The message you see
There is nothing to post because the document does not contain a quantity or amount.
There is nothing to post because the journal does not contain a quantity or amount.
What causes it
No line has a quantity or amount to post for the option you chose. Usually:
- Qty. to Ship, Qty. to Receive or Qty. to Invoice is zero on every line, often because setup leaves these blank on new lines.
- You chose Invoice, but nothing has been shipped or received yet to invoice.
- Everything on the order has already been shipped and invoiced.
How to fix it in Business Central
- Open the lines and check Qty. to Ship or Qty. to Receive, and Qty. to Invoice.
- Fill in the quantities you want to post, or choose Ship and Invoice to post both together.
- If you’re invoicing only, check what has been shipped and not yet invoiced.
- In a journal, check each line has an amount or quantity.
The faster way
With Bee Solved, the AI Assistant for Business Central, you ask what’s left on the order.
What’s left to ship and invoice on sales order 1061?
| Line 10000: to ship | 0 of 6 outstanding |
| Line 20000: shipped, not invoiced | 4 |
| Line 30000 | Fully invoiced |
It reads the order’s lines with your permissions and shows what is outstanding, shipped and invoiced. Where AI changes are on, it can prepare posting the order (ship, invoice or both) for you to confirm in Business Central. Posting is always a separate, confirmed change.
Bee Solved works in Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot. It signs in as the person asking, uses their Business Central permissions, and links every answer back to the records behind it.
