Questions to ask Business Central

You do not have permissions on TableData in Business Central: what it means and how to fix it

The message you see

You do not have the following permissions on TableData Sales Header: Insert

What causes it

Your permission sets don’t give you this access to the table named. Usually:

  • You don’t have a permission set for the task, for example you can view sales orders but not create them.
  • The permission set is assigned to you in another company, not in this one.
  • You have indirect permission only, which lets posting routines change the table but not you directly.
  • Your licence type allows less than the permission set does.

How to fix it in Business Central

  1. Note the table and the permission in the message.
  2. An administrator opens Users, selects you and checks Effective Permissions for that table.
  3. They assign a permission set that grants it, for the right company, directly or through a security group.
  4. Try the task again.

The faster way

With Bee Solved, the AI Assistant for Business Central, an administrator asks who can do the task and why, in plain words.

Who can create sales orders, and why can’t Sam?

Permissions, this company
AlexD365 SALES DOC, EDIT
SamRead only, via D365 READ

It lists each person, permission set and company, and what each allows, from Business Central’s own permissions. Business Central only shows these to someone allowed to read permissions, and says so otherwise. An administrator can then describe the change, and the AI prepares it for them to check and apply in Business Central.

Bee Solved works in Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot. It signs in as the person asking, uses their Business Central permissions, and links every answer back to the records behind it.
